In April I wrote about ‘creative rejection’ and how it made me feel. What it meant to me and how I have learnt to deal with it.
What then when someone sends you “creative reinforcement”?
Some years ago, I subscribed to a website called Redbubble. It’s a place where anybody in the world can upload designs which get transferred to anything from T-shirts and hoodies, to phone cases and bedding! The person chooses a design they like, and then select whether they want the design printed to wall art, baby clothes, tote bags, canvas, stickers, etc etc. Their purchase then gets sent to their doorstep, and a percentage of the sale is sent to your account.
I received an email from Redbubble, saying that someone had left a comment on one of my designs, which looks like this :
The message said this:
I thought “Wow, that is cool!”
Creativity has no limits. It speaks no specific language. It seeks out who it can relate to and then speaks a million words to that individual. Creativity is individualism. I love that it can cross oceans and continents and can find some random person and touch them in a special way, and then send back a message and reinforce the power of creativity in the creator!
